People think of the West as mining and agriculture, of cowboys and pioneers. They don’t often think of the arts. The first settlers in Steamboat Springs, the Crawford family, arrived in 1875 with an organ and paints transported from Missouri. Think about the weight and space an organ would take—but it was important enough to the family to make sure it came with them.
