Jess Claflin: Jess dreamed of being a tattoo artist from the time she was a little kid. Now she lives that dream every day. “I think the unlimited creativity and the sting of rebellious energy originally drew me to the art form. Finishing a tattoo brings a flood of emotions all at once. Creating art that has never existed before can be a very powerful feeling—one that usually inspires pride but also carries a deep sense of vulnerability.”
Anna M. Labossiere: Anna became a tattoo artist because she loves what tattooing does for people. “Adding art to our bodies can help us love ourselves more, memorialize a loved one, provide therapy or mark the memory of an event or a journey. Every time I finish a piece and see my client’s reaction, it reaffirms that I’m in the right profession. The happiness and excitement I see are priceless. It makes me love my job.”
Louisa Manriquez: Louisa is from Chile and has been tattooing for 12 years. “I became a tattoo artist initially so that I could create art freely within a personal space. Eventually I continued to pursue this career because it connects me to myself, my ancestors and my wonderful clients. To finish a tattoo, especially one that has taken many sessions, often months or even years of work to me is like a sort of birth. Something you created alongside another person, their idea but your vision, their body but also your body and heart putting in so much as well. It really is a partnership of work, trust, and persistence.
Isis Meyer: Isis became a tattoo artist because creating art brings her immense fulfillment. “I wanted to help others express their stories and emotions through this art form. It’s a way to connect with people and make a lasting impact on their lives. Completing a tattoo is incredibly satisfying—it’s a true moment of transformation.”
